Did you thank Allah for your eyesight ?

Did you thank Allah for your eyesight ?

"It is He who gave you hearing, sight, and hearts, but only few of you give thanks."

(Quran 23:78)

A Blind Boy sat on the steps of a building with a hat by his feet , he held up a sign which said : " I am blind, help me. " There were only a few coins in the hat .

A man was walking by, he took a few coins from his pocket and dropped them in the hat. He then took the sign, turn it around, and wrote some words . He put the sign back , so that everyone who walked by will see the new words.

Soon the hat began to fill up , a lot more people were giving money to the blind boy. That afternoon the man who had changed to sign came to see how things were, the boy recognized his footsteps and asked, " were you the one who changed my sign this morning? what did you write? "

The man said: " I only wrote the truth.I said what you said but in a different way." And what he has written was: " Today is beautiful and I cannot see it . "

Do you think what the first sign and second sign were saying was the same?

Of course, both signs told people that the boy was blind , but the first sign simply said the boy was blind , and the second sign told people they were so lucky that they were not blind.

Thanking Allah azzawajal is the best and easiest prescription for happiness and calming the nerves, if we thank him him, we remember the blessings he has bestowed upon us, we really need to learn to thank Allah subhanahu wataala, in whatever kind of situation we find ourselves.

If you want to know the blessings Allah has bestowed upon you, close your eyes, and then open your eyes: look at how he has blessed you with hearing, sight, religious commitment and many more. Yet, we still think little of the blessings we enjoy.

My dear brothers and sisters, look at those who are poor, sick, homeless, traumatized ,destitute , the orphans, visit hospitals, IDPs, and those in need. Think of those who are afflicted with physical and mental health problems, those who cannot hear, who cannot see, who have lost their children, who have lost their relatives, for they are a lot of them out there, indeed we are blessed!

The Prophet (pbuh) said,

"Look to those below you and not to those above, as it is more suitable to remember the blessings of Allah granted to you." (Bukhari & Muslim)

If only we can do this, then we would be content and thank Allah for all the blessing he has bestowed on us.

May Allah grant us a way out of every difficulty. O Allah grant Shifah to all those who are ill!

Alhamdulillah bi ni'imatihi Tatimmus-salihat. Jazakallahu bi khair. I use glasses, but I always feel blessed with this set of eyes because they are a lot others who cannot see completely. Alhamdulillah
